Every day carries its own rhythm, its own story to tell. Some days are calm, quiet, and uneventful, while others burst with activity and leave you reflecting on how much can truly happen in just twenty-four hours. Yesterday was one of those lively days for me, a day that mixed my regular routine with unexpected cultural moments that made it unforgettable.

Morning Activities.

The day began like many others. I woke up early, stretching slowly and letting the cool morning air clear away the last traces of sleep. I always believe that the way you start your morning shapes the rest of the day, so I took my time to follow my routine.

First, I brushed my teeth and washed my face. The splash of water against my skin felt refreshing, like a quiet reminder that a new day had begun. After that, I swept and tidied my room, making sure everything was in order. A neat environment always gives me peace of mind before heading into the busyness of work.

Then I said a short prayer, thanking God for life, strength, and guidance. Those few minutes of prayer are like fuel for me. They set my heart right and remind me that no matter how busy the world gets, it is God who carries me through.

I prepared a light breakfast to give me energy, ate quickly, and got myself ready for work. By the time I stepped out of the house, the streets were already coming alive.

🏪 At the Chemist Shop

Running a chemist shop is more than just a job for me; it is a service. People come with different needs sometimes urgent, sometimes small but every request matters. As I opened the shop, I arranged the shelves, swept the floor, and checked that all the medicines were in order.

Soon, customers started coming in. Some needed regular pain relievers, some came for prescriptions, and others just wanted advice. Each person brought their own story, and I did my best to help them.

But this particular day, the street outside my shop was far from ordinary. The atmosphere was electric because masquerades were out

🎭 The Masquerades on the Street

The sound of drums, flutes, and songs echoed in the air as different masquerades paraded the streets. Children ran around excitedly, chasing after them or running away in mock fear, their laughter filling the air. The older people watched with interest, some smiling at the performances, others joining in the songs.

The whole street was alive. Vendors sold snacks and drinks, neighbors stood outside chatting, and traffic even slowed as drivers tried to catch glimpses of the colorful figures. It felt like the entire community was caught in celebration.

From inside my shop, I could hear the commotion and see the movement of people. Then, to my surprise, one of the masquerades actually came into my shop.

💊 A Masquerade as a Customer

It was a funny but interesting sight. Dressed in costume,

mask and all, the masquerade walked in and asked to buy some drugs. For a moment, I wanted to laugh because it was such a rare experience. Imagine—masquerades are usually known for dancing, chasing children, and entertaining crowds, but that day, one became my customer.

The children ran away from the masquerade

I attended to him just like I would anyone else. After paying, he left, and the children outside screamed and ran in every direction, chasing after him again. That small event became the highlight of my workday. It showed me that behind every mask is still a human being with ordinary needs.

🥤 Lunch Break

As the day went on, I got hungry but didn’t feel like cooking or eating anything heavy at the shop. So I decided to keep it simple and had some snacks for lunch. It wasn’t fancy, but it gave me enough energy to continue the day. Sometimes the simplest meals are the most satisfying, especially when you are busy.

🍛 Dinner Time

By evening, I closed the shop and headed home. The masquerade celebration was still ongoing, and the streets were just as lively as they had been earlier. Children still ran about, vendors still sold food, and music filled the air.

Rice and beans

When I finally got home, I decided to cook something filling. I made rice and beans for dinner, and the aroma filled my home. Sitting down with my plate after a long day felt like a reward. The food was delicious, and I ate to my satisfaction.

Reflections

Looking back, yesterday was both ordinary and extraordinary. Ordinary because it began with my usual routine waking up, praying, going to work, and attending to customers. Extraordinary because the masquerades filled the street with energy and even visited my shop.

It reminded me how culture and daily life sometimes blend in unexpected ways. You can go about your normal duties, and suddenly, tradition, music, or laughter enters your space and changes the rhythm of your day.

The highlight was definitely the masquerade buying medicine from me a small story I will never forget.

By the time I went to bed, I was tired but grateful. Tired from the busy day, but grateful for the joy, culture, and peace that colored it.
