First Came Happiness, then Pain. --- A Poem to the wives of fallen heroes in the Army
I know of two lovebirds
that lived in our street
their love was deeply stirred
and really appeared sweet
Soon they stood before the altar
with smiles, so graciously crafted
and now no one can alter
this bond they've slowly drafted
Slowly, yet surely they built their Inn
just like they had always dreamed
for a few months later she took in
the future was surely creamed
Life showcase itself without pain
distance came; to serve the fatherland
Jane had to say goodbye by the train
as she wept sore, swaying hand
For years the train never came
back to the waiting arms of Jane
So all can never be the same
for now, she had just her little girl and pain.
I scribbled this thinking of the wives of soldiers/army officers. The waiting; not knowing what to expect. They deserve to be praised, I do not think I can live that life.
Thank you,
