I was so excited when I saw this fungi yesterday while at work. I was pulling up weeds on the backside of a flower bed. These were growing ontop of old wood mulch. I truly would not have seen them if I wasn't doing what I was doing. A new find for me.. !!! :D

They are pretty cool. My first time seeing them. Made my day for sure..:D So awesome you have seen them. It's been very rainy here this Spring. Mushrooms seem to be appearing earlier than normal. I'm pretty surprised also because it's been very cool. The next few days are looking warm and sunny....!!!!!!!!

probably not froggies but some mosquito and fly corpses floating around there -- that I can imagine, too!
Yeah i found my first peziza badia a couple weeks ago as well. Must be a good year for them. I thought they were wood ear at first but wood ear doesn't grow on the ground and in a cup shape.

Cool you found them too. I thought it was wood ear at first too but I quickly knew it wasn't after a good look at them.

How are you cooking it? Its definitely a good year for fungi when chicken is found this early in the year.
