Scalp Psoriasis or Tinea Capitis – Whatever it was, it cleared with Homeopathy

This is a lovely story of a young 7 year old girl who had lost most of her hair.

She had been diagnosed with Scalp Psoriasis. And she had a big event coming up in 12 months and wanted to be able to attend her first ever visit to the hairdresser. This was her big dream.

What she was presenting with was remarkable hair loss. Considerable thickening of the skin all over the scalp with big lumps which flake off, bringing her hair with them. It is extremely itchy and she is constantly scratching. To me, it looked like severe tinea capitis (fungal infection). Her hair was very sparse. Whether it was in fact tinea capitis, or scalp psoriasis, or whatever, isn’t an issue when treating with homeopathy – the presenting characteristics are the focus.

What is really interesting is that it had all started 7 months ago when she had the Chickenpox, and her scalp had been covered with them. Then she was left with this. She also has some eczema-type skin around her eyes and ears.

She is full of energy, has a great sense of humour, and says her hobbies are whistling and skipping.

The only other issue is her long-term struggle with constipation.

When analyzing any case for homeopathic treatment, it is important to focus on what needs to be treated now, at this moment in time.

I prescribed the remedy DULCAMARA 30c, daily for a month. I prescribed Dulcamara because it matched the scalp symptoms exactly. Interestingly, Dulcamara is also a good remedy choice for Chickenpox, which is what triggered this all in the first place.

She had a very clear response and was obviously delighted. The scalp improved and her hair started to regrow. I repeated the prescription of Dulcamara 30c over 3 months and she continued to improve and all her hair returned.
They contacted me about 4 months after this to say that it was starting to reappear slightly. Slips like this are common enough, and a repeat of the same prescription in a higher potency is the best step. So this is what I did – I prescribed DULCAMARA 200c daily for 2 weeks.

This did the trick and it completely cleared after this.

And just to say .... she did attend her big event. And she did have that hairdresser appointment. And it was fabulous!
