Pets bring so much joy ...... until it is time to say goodbye

There are people who love pets so much they willingly commit twice and three times over. They feel so strongly that a dog, cat, bird, horse, or pig etc is worth the emotional investment, they do not worry about the effort and financial costs associated with owning pets.

At the beginning the prospective pet owner's mind is only focussed on choosing the cute little bundle of fur to take home and enjoy with the fun time of attachment, training and routine following. Dog owners readily testify to the unconditional love their dogs readily give. They make wonderful companions. Cat lovers of course say the same about their furry balls.

But, alas, there is always an ending to the beautiful loving pet. Sadly old age and or illness comes along to claim the once healthy and active pets. They do not live long lives compared to our human ones.

And, this is what is taking place to my little bulldog of 11 years old. Marley was never meant to live past 5 years old with her severe heart murmur. Now, she is old, very sick and in pain.

Saying goodbye is one of the toughest for a pet owner, it is one that we want to avoid and ignore. But, we cannot, it must be faced. Any responsible pet owner cannot let a faithful pet live in pain. It is the part of the pet owner journey that stops some individuals from owning pets. They claim that it is too hard a task to make and it is.

But, in reality saying goodbye is the most loving and kind thing to do....... I believe.
