La poesía habla / Poetry Speaks

in #spanish5 years ago (edited)

Hello friends readers, today I want to start a series of post that have to do with the word that many times we find within the poetry and that are not of daily use, but they have some synonym surely that we use to communicate daily, only that in many cases we do not know it, then it happens that for those readers who are not familiar with the poetic language can make it difficult for them to understand some poem that run into their path reader.

Poetry is the art of transmitting the beauty of simple things through the word or at least that is my concept, the use of the word must be clear and simple but at the same time it must have a touch that indicates that the poet has great vocabulary due to his readings prior to the development of poetry.

In theory every poet is an excellent reader, and I say in theory because particularly I am a reader but not constant due to the multiple occupations that one has after assuming a marriage commitment, children, house etc., for all this and other reasons I have lowered much my level of books read per year, however in my good times I read on the Internet and read books in physics, in a parallel way, so I have read some short stories, poetry books, short stories, diverse subjects like the Second World War, I also like to read about psychology, cooking among other things, and there you go looking for in the dictionary the words you don't know, just like when we learn a new language, however we speak the language we speak we never get to know the language completely.

To continue with what I have here today that is this new post click which I want to call Poetry Speaks , we will start today to define a word that I have used multiple times in my poetry, perhaps because I feel that the same without knowing in depth its meaning its sound sense gives that personal touch that I like to give my poems. The word that we will begin by defining is:

Lugubrious

According to the dictionary of the real academy on-line Spanish, it tells us that

Del lat. lugŭbris.

  1. funeral adj. (very sad).
  2. shady, deeply sad adj.
The second meaning is the one that from my perspective corresponds more to poetic use. Being gloomy, an adjective immediately indicates that it is a word that gives a quality to the noun, which in a poem can be the night or silence, the steps that resonate in the distance, etc., for example:

1. The lugubrious night I swap instantly

2. The lugubrious silence looked away

3. Its lugubrious steps died when touching the thin rock

Knowing the meaning of the word and its use we can only invite you to use it in your post and in your writings of literature, stories, prose, poetry or any other kind, giving creativity more tools to improve every day more the quality of our post in this wonderful blockchain de steemit.

What word have you found reading poetry that you don't know for sure its meaning?

Tell me in the comments..

A hug to all we are reading
