The Carmilla Movie

A little while ago several actors got together and made a low budget web series about a young lady investigating missing women; when she suddenly gets a new roommate that turns out to be a vampire.

The entire series was filmed from one camera that acted as her webcam.

The webseries caught on.

It led to two more seasons and then the fans helped them finance a feature film that aired recently on television.

They also played all three seasons so I watched that before watching the movie...

So before anything else I have to point out right off the bat, if you don't watch the webisodes you aren't going to get the movie.

They do try to tackle the backstory in exposition but it's done in a way that spoken too fast or without explaining the expositionairy terms they use that you'd get lost.

Which some of my friends did... who had to ask me who some people are that show up from people's past. (It's her dead sister who died in one of the webasodes)

Overall I liked it.

It was slightly slow, but that can be forgiven as there are restraints in funding for Canadian movies.

The Characters were the same from the webseries, which bothered me a little bit as they didn't fully transfer to the style of acting that's needed for a more feature way of story telling.

I felt the same way while watching Star Trek Generations, as the cast were still approaching it like they were making a television show. Sometimes it takes a movie or two...

Or in this case, about forty minutes into the movie the tone of the characters change...

Vampires are cool... I highly recommend checking it out.
