Trip to Abhkazia

Hi, guys! I am Anna, and I want to tell you some story about Abkhazia where I traveled in 2013 year.

Abkhazia it’s the region on the eastern coast of the Black Sea and the south-western flank of the Caucasus, south of Russia and northwest of Georgia proper. Here were one of the most popular seaside in Sovet Union named Gagra.

Sukhumi – it’s the capital and largest city of Abkhazia. I went there in 2013 year. It’s very strange and beautiful country with a picturesque landscapes.

However, in 1992 year were Georgian–Abkhaz conflict. The conflict was in stalemate until July 1993, when Abkhaz separatist militias launched an abortive attack on Georgian-held Sukhumi. The mass killings and destruction continued for two weeks, leaving thousands dead and missing. That is why you can see the destroyed parts of the city.

Here you can see some churches. For example, it is one of them. Its friary with beautiful painted walls and ceiling.

There many tourists routs to the mountains, lakes and to the sea. One day I went to the mountains by horse, its real amazing adventure. I wish you to come there and see all this place in Abkhazia.
