Javanese acid (sour taste) originally thought to originate from India while the name 'tamarind' comes from Arabic meaning 'tamr hindii' meaning 'Indian dates'. Sweet sour varieties were then developed. Sweet tamarind is popular there are two types of sweet java (kaba acid) and sweet acid lakham (acid Bangkok).
Kaba acid is a varietal of Javanese acid that has a sweet taste. The plant was originally cultivated in Thailand. The shape of the fruit is similar to Javanese acid in general that is the fruit of the pod with the skin of a hard brownish fruit, the shape of a bent fruit like a crescent or straight.
