Syrian Army's strikes on northern Hama kill militants, destroy bases

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:15 P.M.) - Rebels' positions and gatherings in northern Hama countryside came under heavy artillery and missile shelling conducted by the Syrian Army prior to the ground invasion on insurgent-held areas.

The Syrian Army units stationed in Joureen town bombed rebel fighters in Ziyarah and Masheek; leveling to the ground two buildings used by militants as headquarters, and destroying 3 technical vehicles with its crews.

In the same context, the government forces pounded a military outpost for the FSA-linked Jaish al-Izza group; killing at least 5 militants including a field commander; Abdo Imad Habib.

A military source said that Russian surveillance drones flying over rebel-controlled areas 724 are to be thanked for providing the precise coordinates, which greatly helped in carrying out accurate strikes.
