Syrian Army prepares to launch last offensive against ISIS in east Syria
BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 P.M.) - While Russia and Turkey discuss the situation in the Idlib Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to launch a large-scale offensive to finish off the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists in east Syria.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army's Republican Guard have redeployed to the desert region near the border-city of Albukamal; they are expected to launch their attack from this front.
The primary purpose of this offensive is to clear the Islamic State pocket that has been wrecking havoc on the Syrian Arab Army troops near the Iraqi border.
The offensive will be led by the Republican Guard's new unit, "The Coastal Shield."
