Ceasefire being violated 'too frequently in Idlib - Lavrov

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a speech to MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations) students in Moscow on Monday, said that the situation in Syria's Idlib cannot be tolerated "indefinitely" since the ceasefire regime over there is being violated "too frequently."
“Over the past two months, shelling on Syrian troops has been carried out from this zone. There have even been attempts to assault the [Syrian army's position] from this zone. A huge number of drones are being launched [from this zone] in an attempt to attack our military base in Khmeimim,” Lavrov said, adding that over 50 drones have been destroyed.
Talking about the situation in Ukraine, Lavrov said that the Minsk Agreements were the “only way of settling the Ukrainian crisis” but that “the Ukrainian authorities are trying to avoid them by all means possible.”
“I hope the US will influence Kiev in a disciplinary manner since the Ukrainians do not listen to anybody else,” he concluded.
Moscow State Institute of International Relations is one of Russia's most prestigious educational institutions, preparing students in careers in international relations and diplomacy.
