WHO IS YOUR SPIRITUAL MENTOR - BE CAREFUL!!!

Dear ladies and gentlemen of the #steemchurch, greetings to you all.

We all know making heaven is a personal race, but that does not mean we don't look up to some few persons in the faith as mentors.

There are people you wish to be like when it comes to how they physically relate with God. In your mind, you feel those ones are heavenly bound. We run to them to seek advice and probably put us through some certain bible principles.

I am not saying having someone as a mentor is a bad thing, but we have to be careful when choosing them. The worst ste of people are those whom the world perceived as angles whereas they are very far away from God. They pretend to be God-fearing and watching them from afar you'd be convinced that they usually dine with God.

His phone happens to have a folder in the gallery where deleted videos and pictures are stored in case you change your mind. I am seeing it for the third time. I couldn't believe my eyes until I went to his opera history and found out he downloaded them himself

This just shattered me. I am beginning to think that this whole Christianity thing is just a facade and it's happening now that I have made up my mind to follow christ fully. It's making me look at him in a completelydifferent light now and I'm confused at the moment. Please what will you do if you're in my shoes?

I am not here to pass judgement on the said mentor, but let's just reflect on this lady's feeling. A lot of us are in this state and sometimes fall out of faith because of someone's actions. The bible says in Hebrew 12:2

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith

Jesus should be our role model. Yes, we may imitate a man's good attributes, but don't swallow everything. Your mentor is human after all and subject to errors, sin and addictions, but Christ isn't. Fellow after Christ alone as men will/may disappoint.

We are not perfect,but all working towards perfection and that is why we must not put our faith in any man but Christ.

Run your race, nobody is perfect. Do not expect so much from mere mortals, it will discourage and put your spirit in doubt. When you put your trust in humans you will be let down.

Isaiah 2:22

Do not put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?

I am not saying, we are not allowed to have mentors but just want to remind us not to expect so much from them. Let's not see them as semi-gods and probably place them over Christ in our hearts so that we will not be shattered by their actions, if anything happens tomorrow.

Christ has made Himself available for us to reach Him anytime as Christians.

John 14: 26

But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you
