Dino02.jpg

Looking through my photos today with my son he suggested I share this one. He's two and at that age where Dinosaurs are truly fascinating. This was the only picture he cried out in joy over.

I made this in a small festival in the Dutch town of Winterwijk. They had found some fossils there at one time and I was asked to create something to highlight that fact.

As you can see from the image it's pretty much life size. This is one of the benefits of having people in images of sand sculpture, it gives it a sense of scale.
You may also notice that I had to use lots of plant life as support for the massive head of the t-rex and still try to keep it a bit dynamic with it's swishing tail. I think the raptor biting his neck gives the composition a nice center point.

Thanks for joining me and I hope to see you soon again.

I'm at the age where Dinosaurs are truly fascinating too. I'm breathing.

This is a fantastic sculpture. I can't even begin to imagine the delicate process that lead to this.

True. I am having a new found interest in them through being a father but I think my son actual thinks they still exist.
I will be making some posts about sand sculpture process some time in the future.

Really impressive! How long did that take?

Thanks @demotruk .I think it took 7 days. That's the usual time i'm given for a sculpture of this size.
