Question: Considering you are planning on increasing difficulty with the backpack... are you a hiker?

The longest hike I have done is a hike along the west coast of Vancouver Island (Canada) where we covered 75km in 5 days. It’s my second time doing this particular hike and I love it! I guess I’ll have to include some photos/video of that at some point... :)

Oh, I love climbing but I have little chance of doing it.
I need to "burn fat", because or several Kg overweight: for this I want to stay in the heart fitness area, to see if it really works. ;)

If this is the case the best thing to do would be to add a couple lbs of muscle. 1 lb of muscle requires 50 calories to sustain itself.

So simply adding 10lbs of muscle mass would calculate out to 3500 calories burned just supporting homeostasis. Incidentally there are 3500 calories in 1 lb of fat. That means your basically burning 1 lb of fat in 7 short days while your awake doing life and even while your asleep recharging! That’s pretty good right?! 😁

So yeah! Weight training trains your body through the use of the anarobic energy system (without oxogen). Getting your breathing up into your target heart rate prompts your body to use oxogen to create the energy (ATP) that your body needs. Light activities like walking make use of the fat burning energy system so if you would like to burn fat directly the best way to do that is to actually stay out of the cardio zone. This type of activity however is more time consuming so mixing it up might be the best way to reach your goals quickly.

So yeah! I’ve basically given you two approaches to burning the fat stores your body is holding on to... The best approach is to blend both strategies together as cardio is important to the maintenance of muscle growth and restoration!
