Fighting for Life

I won't fight for Love any longer
Not because it doesn't exist
But simply for the reason
That it refuses to stop running.
I have searched far and wide
For an answer to this aching heart
Yet every direction leads me to a dead end.
Why does this world fixate on pleasure?
On simple, fleeting desires?
Doesn't Humanity crave for connection?
In a world linked with energy signals
You'd think we'd finally let down our shields
But instead we've overloaded our senses
So that all we want is more more more.
I don't want quantity
I want quality
I want to feel alive
Yet every time I reach for life
It disintegrates in my hands
So all I can ask is for these rotten fruits
To replenish my soil
For I don't know if I can keep going
With what I have.
My strength I've built
Will have to serve me longer
Until I can find a way forward
Without fighting for my life
