How To Make Your Room Look Bigger
Furnishing and decoration of your apartment is always a creative process. Even if you are a rationalist from head to toes, you create your own space, brick by brick, and no matter what style will you choose, it is a real art – to make bare walls a home, cozy place that has a part of your soul and reflects it, sometimes more, sometimes less but still it is an expression of your personality. Every art is a magic in a way, especially when we speak about creating our living place, because we can achieve different effects and create different moods by the right measures.
Practically all owners of the small apartments are eager to make them look more spacious and wide. It is not a very difficult task with knowledge of some small secrets I will gladly share with you. By following those principles you can make your room visually almost twice bigger.
Light is one of the most important points in broadening the space. Spotlights with direction from the ceiling center to the walls can save long and narrow corridor. In the further end of some narrow room you can put a detail that will be catching attention – a picture, wallpapers with large print or a massive decoration, and other walls are to be left neutral and light.
The other elegant way of visual enlarging the room is playing with stripes. Just put your floor at right angles to long walls and emphasize it with striped wallpapers on the short one and you’ll be surprised how big your room will seem.
Try not to put furniture along the long walls. Divide the space; share it on functional zones by putting objects across the room.
Play with the contrast of colors. Light and pastel on the long walls, bright and printed on the short ones – it will make the proportions of room look better.
Be attentive while choosing lamps. They mustn’t be gross, try to choose the most tender and discreet ones.
A wardrobe or a cupboard along the short wall will also make the room more proportional.
So as you can see there’s nothing very difficult here, good planning will help. Just think over each detail – entrance ways, wallpapers, furniture – every small detail matters and must fit to create a comfortable relaxing place for you.
