Travel through Time - Museo Regional de Nayarit

The Regional Museum of Nayarit is located in a historical monument built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, linked to the economic, political, social and cultural development of the state. It was inaugurated in 1969. It functions as a cultural center with book presentations, lectures, theater, dance, musical concerts, poetry recitals, and tradition rescue.

It is a building of the eighteenth century, two floors, built in adobe, which houses in its historic part seven permanent exhibition halls - three on the ground floor and four on the top floor, which account for the archeology of the different cultural traditions of the Prehispanic Nayarit; besides two dedicated rooms for temporary exhibitions. It has a patio to the center surrounded by corridors by its four sides.

In the corner of the ground floor, the Direction of the museum is located and also in this plant two bathrooms for people with disability are located, to each one of the sides of the main staircase that leads to the high plant, located to the center of the west wing of our building, next to which is located a space, where soon will be installed an elevator that connects both floors.

Climbing the stairs on the right are the bathrooms for visitors. Continuing to one side of them, a small winery is located to guard the pictorial stock, followed by four rooms, destined for permanent exhibitions.

Finally, before returning to the stair area, the bucket for the elevator corresponding to the upper floor is located. A corridor on the ground floor, which runs in front of the Direction connects the historic building with a backyard where they are arranged around it in two different floors; namely- Planta baja and Planta atla. There are some rules in this museum, it is not allowed to use flash or video camera in this museum.

The services provided by the museum are- In this museum, there is a ticket office, a cloakroom, toilets for the general public and people with different capacities, a library and guided visits, workshops that complement the guided tours and summer and holiday workshops. It is a space where you can travel through time with your photographs, paintings, manuscripts, clothing, embalmed animals and artifacts in wood, clay, and iron. The museum contains the symbols of the rich cultural history of this city, and it is worth a visit.
