There are places we have to visit because we have all we need to see in one place.
That is the best thing about traveling around, the cities that have it all.
It is fun to travel, but it is even more excited to tour around cities that have to offer so many wonderful attractions that are one of a kind.
One of does cities is Tlalnepantla in Mexico. It is a must-see city! If you were wondering what your next destination is, don’t, it is Tlalnepantla.
Or for all of you that planned your trip to Tlalnepantla, you have a good taste, and your choice was genuine.
While you are in the wonderful city of Tlalnepantla, you will literally enjoy every day, there is so much to see and learn.
One of the must-see attractions in this city is Tenayuca,
Tenayuca is a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archaeological site in the Valley of Mexico.
Back in the Postclassic period of Mesoamerican chronology, it was a settlement on the former shoreline of the western arm of Lake Texcoco.
It was located about 10 km/6.2mi to the northwest of Tenochtitlan, which is a heart of present-day Mexico City.
The Tenayuca was considered to be the earliest capital city of the Chichimec, who were a nomadic tribe who migrated and settled in the Valley of Mexico, forming their own kingdoms
The name Tenayuca means walled place. The wonderful and amazing pyramid is located in San Bartolo Tenayuca,
it falls within the urban sprawl of Greater Mexico City. It is an amazing, fun and unique place to learn about Mexican culture and enjoy in the Mexican day.
So, if you are interested in the pyramid, there are daily half-day trips from anywhere in the center of Mexico City. If you are coming from Polanco,
your drive will be about half an hour, if you go with an uber – uber cost 150 pesos in one way. But there is also public transportation from the center if you don’t want to go with an uber.
You will be thrilled by the monuments, also with the additional ruins and about 3km further visit the Santa Cecilia Acatitlan site,
which combines a mini-museum of a former country house and a small pyramid, which you can actually climb up to.
There are several altars and shrines nearby that are also excavated, some of these also have serpent sculptures.
Check out, 200 meters from the main pyramid of Tenayuca, the remains of what appears to have been an elite residential complex, with surviving plaster floors in some rooms.
This area has been labeled Tenayuca II by archaeologists and appears to have gone through various phases of construction.

Address of both pyramids:

  • Tenayuca I: Calle Quetzalcoatl s / n, San Bartolo Tenayuca, 54150, Tenayuca, Tlalnepantla de Baz, Mexico.
  • Tenayuca II: Pirámide 51 Circuit, Izcalli Pirámide II Division, 54140, Tenayuca, Tlalnepantla de Baz, México.
