Well, you always have to have time for learning new things, especially if you are in a foreign country. There is always something new to see and learn.

That’s why if you ever plan to visit Quebec, there is a special place that has to be on your bucket list. It is special, unique and you will love it. That’s most important of all. So, Quebec has something no one has, the Moulin de Wakefield. If you wonder what is it is, don’t wonder, just catch up.

Moulin de Wakefield was one of the last mills in Quebec, and in the 2000s they reconstructed the mill into a hotel. Isn’t it amazing? It was a mill, know it is a very relaxing place to visit, with an amazing history. Very amusing!
The journey started in 1838, it was a flour mill and was powered by the rushing water of MacLaren Falls. It was a vision of a Scottish immigrant, William Fairbairn. He constructed the stone mill with a purpose of milling local grains into flour for farm families of the Gatineau and La Peche River valleys. In the 1840s, the mill was sold to James MacLaren, and the site was expanded into a sawmill, woolen mill and a general store. So, when you visit this amazing hotel, you are a part of an interesting mill history. It survived a fire, and it was rebuilt after that, it continued until 1939, and later in the 1980s it was turned into a heritage museum by the Gatineau Historical Society. And then in the 2000s, by the power of an amazing couple Robert Milling and Lynn Berthiaume, which decided to turn back in life the stone mill by restoring it into a country inn and destination spa.

The exact address is 60 Mill Road – PO Box 599, Wakefield, Quebec, Canada.

There are attractions that we need to go and see, just because they are special and they are one of a kind. That is why you have to go and visit Gatineau, a city that has so much to offer. You will enjoy every minute of your visit, and besides all that you will learn exciting new things, you will be thrilled how much they keep their history and the respect that they have for their people. It is more than special, just because it has a special soul.
Every place on Earth has something different, and that’s why we are traveling and touring around if you love to travel and explore, and if you understand the excitement and the importance of learning about new cultures, then Gatineau is your next destination.

Besides, all the things said above, there is also something really special about this city, it’s the nature. Lac Mousseau is your attraction number one. Accurately it is a French name for Harrington Lake. The French name Mousseau comes from early settler to the area, Louis Mousseau, who bought property in 1867. It is a summer residence, and the name was given after Prime Minister of Canada. It is located near Meech Lake, and it is approximately 35 km northwest of Ottawa in Gatineau Park.

The history of this place started back in the 19th century, when Several families came to settle in the Harrington Lake area, both families the Harrington and the Mousseau. The lake eventually through time became known as "Harrington Lake" in English and "Lac Mousseau" in French.
The Mousseau family had built a farm on the shores of the lake, which remained in the family for several decades. Since the land was not suitable for farming, the lumber industry replaced it as the primary economic activity. In the early 20th century, two Americans, W. A. Drum and W. L. Donnelly, built a sawmill at Harrington Lake to serve the lumber industry. Later on, in 1951, the lake and the sawmill were acquired by the King in Right of Canada to build up reserves of natural areas around the capital. The lake and the area around it are referred to as Lac Mousseau.

Everyone that ever visited would say that it is the most beautiful of all Gatineau Park lakes.
