Been corps member is a very Nigerian students dream. Besides the Khaki, they want to be addressed as a "corpper".

Initially, I wasn't feeling the NYSC thing. I have dreams that were time bound. Time for national youths service has been lost to few months of internal strikes and several months of stay at home as the my university's senate approved my degree results on a later date from academic calender. The service euphoria faded off as time went by. Nevertheless, I cant escape it. I had to obey the clarion call
November, 24, 2016 the journey began with a three weeks of regimental lifestyle. It was a bitter sweet experience but I choose solace on the bitter part. I made no friends and stayed mostly in the company of myself. However, I participated in a couple of activities and took photographs for future sake. I also feel ill.
On the 12th of December 2016, I left the orientation camp with my luggage, getting to only three persons( two I became friends with) and a posting letter to a polytechnic. They were the beginning of the best things that happened me for the remaining months.

I am going to tertiary institution, wow!.I saw the need for experience. The service year won't be bad a idea after all. I explored everything from administration to laboratory to classroom. These folks needs to know an asset walked in. No more bitter sweet. I have to create my experince. It has to be sweet.

Like magnet attracting all metals, I was the magnet. My name was on all and sundry in the department. I dazzled the minds of students, academics and non academics. I was highly spoken of behind and before me. Somehow,i was the " X" in every equation.
There was no nothing to be proud of. I only relished the experience. I hear folks say create your world and I now understood. I knew I was living my dreams and walking in it.
At polytechnic I meet other great corps member. They had beautiful soul. They were my family! I saw love first-hand. I saw beauty in our friendship. 11 months of no quarrels. We had fellowship: exciting and refreshing. We were different in character but had one soul.

on a group date

I learnt‎ never to walk into any room without leaving an impression
I learnt to speak few words and act more
I enjoyed humuor and made it a lifestyle
I learnt to find pleasure in helping others
I learnt the meaning of service
I found joy in solving problems
I learnt how to stand tall in the crowd
I learnt how to wait patently for a perfect timing to make a lasting impact.

I am happy in the nearest future, I will tell posterity I obeyed the clarion. I served my country
And it made all the difference!!!!

Thanks for reading
