Get to know the Iguana star
Iguanas are amazing and unique reptiles found mostly in Central America, South America and the Caribbean Islands. They are known for their large, slender bodies and long tails which they use to maintain balance when climbing trees or walking on the ground.
The characteristic of iguanas is green skin with dark patches that help them camouflage themselves in the tropical forests where they live. However, there are also iguana species that have brighter or even colorful skin colors.
Iguanas are herbivores, which means they only eat plants. They like leaves, flowers, fruit, and sometimes also eat several types of small insects. Iguanas are very good at adapting to their environment, and some species can even swim in fresh water to find food or move around.
Currently, iguana populations face threats from the loss of their habitat due to deforestation and also illegal hunting to keep them as pets or for their meat. However, many conservation efforts are being made to protect iguana populations, including educating the public about the importance of protecting the ecosystems in which they live.
Overall, iguanas are interesting and important animals for the tropical forest ecosystems in which they live, and are an important subject in biodiversity conservation efforts.
