Monastery of St. John
The Val Müstair is one of the most beautiful mountain valleys in Switzerland with a natural landscape that has been completely preserved.
Since 1983 the monastery of St. John in Müstair belongs to the world heritage sites of Unesco.
According to legend, Charlemagne on the Umbrail Pass got into a snow storm and come away unscathed. In gratitude he donated the St. Johann monastery. The monastery was always inhabited during its 1200-year history and was never completely destroyed.
Das Val Müstair ist eines der schönsten Bergtäler der Schweiz mit einer vollständig erhaltenen Naturlandschaft.
Seit 1983 gehört das Kloster st. Johann in Müstair, zu dem Welterb stätten der Unesco. Laut Legende, Karl der Grosse auf dem Umbrailpass ist in einen Schneesturm geraten und kam heil davon. Als Dank hat er das Kloster St. Johann gestiftet. Das Kloster war in seiner über 1200jährigen Geschichte stets bewohnt und nie völlig serstört.
