Beauty: The beholder shouldn't always have the last word.

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

They say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" which I take to mean that an individual who may not be considered beautiful by one person may indeed be considered beautiful by another. It can also of course refer to inanimate objects as well. A car considered beautiful by one, may not be considered beautiful by another.

When it comes to people though I believe there is another aspect to the phrase. You see, beauty should not always be in the eye beholder it should also come from within the person themselves. If one cannot think of themselves as beautiful, inside or out, then there is little chance that others will indeed see that either.

Beauty is a word most often related to a visual aspect of a person or thing, however with people it can also mean other things. A beautiful spirit, or personality for instance. In this world of superficiality and judgment it's easy for the truly important things to get lost.
