Compared to the bassist position, people are more often discussed about the vocalist or guitarist. Maybe that's why, the media did not expose it too much. In fact, the position of bass players has an important role in the music group. Yes, all members of the band are so important. If one does not exist, then the sound and taste will be different. 1. Les Claypool

Born by the name of Leslie Edward Claypool on September 29, 1963 in Richmond, California, but grew up in El Sobrante, California in a working-class family with a history of working as a car mechanic. Les decided to become a bass player, starting at the age of 14. Because at that time many people wanted to be a guitarist because they were influenced by Eddie Van Halen and he thought if he became a bass player he would be able to perform.

Les Claypool is a bassist and vocalist of Primus band. The band began its debut in late 1980. They spelled out quick popularity and success. One reason is their ability to combine different styles of music, even in a song. Claypool himself became a famous solo artist. He then began to form a band with Trey Anastasio from Phish band. Features in musical style include the use of tapping, whammy bar and flamenco, such as strumming.

2. Geezer Butler

The figure of this one is the bassist as well as the main lyricist of Black Sabbath. As we know, the band is often called the founder of Heavy Metal. Originally Butler played guitar, but then moved to bass after Tony lommi. He was reluctant to use 2 guitarists. In the early 1970's, Butler did not play bass as a 1960's rock bassist. He often makes new things, and more often leads the band and directs his music. Butler became the first bass player to make heavy metal genre using wah pedals and other effects. In 2006, he and his colleagues at Black Sabbath were inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".

3. Jack Bruce

Jack Bruce is a bass player as well as the main vocalist Cream. He formed the band with two other great musicians, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. In addition to Cream, Bruce also played with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Ringo Starr, Manfred Mann, Robin Trower, John McLaughin's Mahavishnu Orchestra and Gory Gallagher. In 1993, he was inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame", as a member of Cream. But on October 24, 2014, Jack Bruce died of liver disease he suffered.

4. David Ellefson

In addition to lead guitarist, vocalist and lead lyricist Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson is a permanent member of Megadeth from the beginning of their formation in 1983 until the dissolution of the group in 2002. (Mustaine then reshaped Megadeth without Ellefson in 2004). To distinguish two Dave's, Mustaine calls Ellefson "Dave Junior", which is often shortened to "Junior". He appeared on every album and tour of the 1985 recording, Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good! Until the 2002 Rude Awakening album. Ellefson's original bass play style often uses his finger. However, as Megadeth's development and music became more complicated, he then preferred to play with pick/plectrum. Ellefson is noted as a writer on several Megadeth songs, including "Family Tree" from the 1994 album, Youthanasia.

5. Robert Trujillo

Roberto Agustin Miguel Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz (Robert Trujillo) is a bassist who has played with Suicidal Tendencies, Infectious Grooves, Cyco Miko, Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne before joining Metallica in 2003. Rob claims that he love jazz fusion and thrive from it, especially Jaco Pastorius. Growing up on Venice's beach "Dog Town", his youth often played Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Rush songs at small parties. He entered jazz school at the age of 19 and wanted to be a recording musician, despite his love for rock and metal. Trujillo also has several roles in film and television. Role without dialogue in the 1978 film Walter Matthau House Calls, and a small role in the movie Scout's Honor, a film made for Gary Coleman in 1980. He also plays the character 'Flippy' in the TV drama series CHiPs. In 1992 appeared with members of his band Infectious Grooves in the movie Brendan Fraser Encino Man.

I'm not discussing it based on skill level. I randomized it. I put Les Claypool at the very first because I liked most of his bass style @hipopicles
