It's hard not to mention India when we talk about dance. The country has for years attracted the world through its dance, especially through its most famous bandage in the field of cinema: Bollywood. At a glance for the common people all the dances in the Bollywood movie look similar, but apparently not because the types of dance in Bollywood film also rooted from traditional Indian dance. 1. Bhangra
Bhangra is the most widely spread type of dance known to the world as 'Indian dance'. Bhangra is the most influential music and popular dance in India, including in Bollywood films. The dance from the northern Punjabi region is usually staged to commemorate the harvest season as well as other celebrations. This dance is usually shown by the men. The men willing to dance in the middle of the rice field, showing how happy when the awaited time has come this time. The harvest season is indeed the culmination of the peasants working on the rice fields.
Singing and dancing are performed by men in the middle of rice fields called as Baisakhi Festival. In the middle of the rice field dancing with the happiness in their face, accompanied by the scorching sun also the leaves of rice that itch on the skin. That does not dampen the party is delayed.
2. Garba
Indeed Garba is a women's special dance, but men can participate even though not as main dancers. This dance is performed by circling a lamp or a statue or a picture of Goddess Shakti while clapping, stopping fingers or by sounding a small cymbal called manjeera with a distinctive voice. Garba is usually performed for nine days in a Hindu festival, Navaratri. The number 9 here represents the length of the fetus in the womb of a mother, besides the number 9 is described as a reflection of the nine forms of the Goddess Durga. Although Navratri is celebrated by all Hindus in India, the festival is more crowded in the state of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and partly Karnataka.
3. Ghoomar
Ghoomar name is derived from the word "ghoomna" which means rotating. As the name suggests, the round becomes the core of the dance that comes from this Rajhasran region. Ghoomar is danced by women with simple, gentle movements, especially on the hips that are covered with long, colorful skirts that give amazingly beautiful effects when dancers spin. With the accompaniment of special music to make women in this dance will twist to the rhythm of the song with this traditional Indian dance. This dance really is a pretty fun dance and can make you sway and most everything about Indian culture is also associated with this Ghoomar Dance. This dance is often staged as a tribute to Goddess Saraswati.
4. Giddha
Giddha is a popular folk dance of Punjab women in India and Pakistan. This dance is often thought to come from an ancient dance known as ring dance and as energetic as Bhangra and at the same time produces creativity featuring feminine, elegant and elasticity. This is a very colorful dance form that is now copied in all regions of the country. Giddha is also a dance that combines singing and dancing. His movement mostly describes the activities in everyday life. The dancers form a circle in which there is a pair of dancers. The movement itself consists only of simple hand and foot movements.
