A long time ago in India there was a little girl who loved trees.  Her name was Amisha.

Amisha came from a very poor family and they lived in a mud house, but she was happy, since she lived next to a forest.  She loved playing in the forest every day and she loved all the trees and animals.

She would run to the forest every day, her hair swinging from side to side.  She could not wait to get to her favorite spot in the forest where her favorite tree grew and sit in the shade and breathe in the fresh air.

When she got to her favorite tree, she would throw her arms around it and hug it and say "Tree, I love you so much, you are my favorite, we will not be able to live if it was not for you.  Thank you tree for the oxygen you make, the shade you give me and stopping the sandstorms."

Amisha knew that trees were very important to humans and they need to be protected.  Amisha also knew that wherever the trees were growing, you would find water.

She loved sitting under the tree and listen to the rustling of the wind in the leaves. She loved watching the birds and the small animals use the tree for their shelter.

Amisha vowed that she would tell all the people in the village how important the trees were to them, she wanted the people to love the trees as much as she did.

Amisha grew up and had children of her own, but she kept on going to the forest and never stopped loving the trees.  When the children were bigger she took them into the forest and also taught them how important the trees are.

"These trees are your brothers and sisters, they shade us from the sun and guard us from terrible storms and also show us where to find water.  We need to love them and take care of them."

Amisha's kids grew up with the same love for trees as their mother.
