Be resilient

What type of person are you?  The type that gives up easily and go sit in a corner when something goes wrong?  Or are you the type of person who are resilient, lifts your head and face your problems head on and do not let life hold you down?

This is a choice that you can make and even if life sometimes throws things at us and turn our world upside down, you are stronger than you think and can get through it.

The first thing you can do is to have a positive outlook on life.  Even if you are going through rough times, there is always something to be thankful for.  Think 'outside the box' and do not only stare yourself blind against a problem.  Think of all the good things in your life and accept that everybody has problems and that you are able to work through yours.

Make sure you are surrounded by friends and family who accept you for who you are and support your ideas and dreams.  Also have people around that you trust enough to share your problems and fears with.  If you keep the company of positive people, it will lift your spirit, where negative people will pull you down with them.

There will always be moments in your life that causes stress and you cannot stop it from happening.  You can however decide how you are going to deal with it.  You always have a choice between just giving up or doing something about it.  Most problems can be solved, especially if you ask for help, so do not let it rule and regulate your life.

My grandfather always use to say "A mistake is not a mistake if you can fix it" and my mother taught me that it is okay to make mistakes.  Nobody is perfect and that is the way we learn.  You will still make a lot of mistakes and make the wrong decisions (heck your parents even still make mistakes), but the secret is that you learn from it, face the consequences, sort it out and carry on.  There is no use dwelling on a mistake for a long time or just making the same mistake over and over.

You have to look after yourself.  Not only physically but also mentally, which means you must train your brain to think 'happy thoughts'.  You can also do more of the things you love and that makes you happy.

Do not be a quitter.  Be like a rubber ball.  Even if you know you will hit the ground every now and then, you also know that you will bounce right back and even higher than before.

Come on... you can do it - put on your 'positive vibes' and pack life by the horns and enjoy the ride...
