Global warming

I am sure you all have no doubt heard of global warming. I have realized one thing, kids are not taking it as such a big deal, well they are wrong, IT’S A REALLY HUGE DEAL.
Global warming a.k.a greenhouse effect is life threatening. Remember we only have one planet earth and we are destroying it. We are the ones that are responsible for it so we should be conserving it for future generations. We are thinking too much about short term needs, but long term needs are very important too.
Scientists have predicted that in the next century, the earth will have warmed up by six degrees. That may not seem like a lot but believe me, it is. Every degree hotter counts. It will be very hard to live on earth, impossible in a way. With every degree things will worsen.
This is about the future but what is happening now? Many glaciers have melted and turned into huge reservoirs. Because of this there are more floods and of course rising sea levels, this is not a good sign at all. We have already lost a lot of access to clean water.
Did you know that the earth was not in such a bad state till the industrial revolution? That created a very change since much more carbon dioxide was getting emitted in the air.
One more problem, don’t you think that the increasing population is also a problem. It’s like the more people the more energy will be consumed. The population has already tripled since the 1900’s,
All of these problems could lead to a lot of destruction. Now you don’t want the world to get destroyed do you? Well then listen to me, the last generation messed up big time and now it’s up to us kids generation to fix that mess or at least slow it down.
But how? Try not wasting a lot of water or electricity by leaving the lights on. Also don’t forget the three r’s of the environment: reduce, reuse and recycle, these are really important. How about walking to nearby place rather then taking the car? Or maybe cycling, that could help too.
I must say the visit from the national museum of children’s peace and human rights to my school really opened my eyes.
