Decking is now all fixed.
Last week I began to look at sorting out the decking and after buying the new boards and wood for the supports on Monday I had to wait to finish fixing it as the weather turned and it rained all day yesterday. Today though the sun came back out so I could finish off putting in the supports and screwing down the new boards with the help of my 18 year old son.
Once I'd given him a talk about how to use a screwdriver he seemed to pick it up really quick and even had a go with the electric saw without injuring himself. For his first attempt at D.I.Y. he managed it well.
As you can see from these pictures as I ripped up the boards the old framework had totally rotted away so I used roof joists this time to give the support to the boards and it should last a lot longer.
Now I just need to clean down the old boards ready for my son to paint them with decking stain to weatherproof them, you never know I may even buy him some beers for doing it.
New decking and cold beers....life is good. Looks good
It's nice to not feel like you're on a trampoline when you walk on it.
hard work... good luck with the balance work
