An alternative history we can all add to.

One of the things I like about steemit is how posts will become part of the blockchain for ever. As society moves forward many local legends and stories are lost to history, I've posted about a local legend/ folktale of where I now live. It's a ghost story based around a murder that happened two minutes walk from where I live.
I remember other stories based around other places I've lived, this is a vital part of history that needs to be remembered. This is a more personal history of communities rather than the history writen by the victors or governments.

Steemit can become a database for local folklore from around the world, local legends can be posted and saved before they are forgotten. My mum used to tell me of her life growing up, a life that is now lost. Of village life and skating on the village pond in winter. History isn't about major events but how peopled lived their lives day to day, of stories people were told of the people that came before them.

I love history but want to read about personal histories rather than world history, learning about what your Grandmother did is of far more interest than what some politician said to start a war. Steemit can bring us so many stories not known beyond a very small area, we can really learn about other people and their folklore by the stories people tell.
