The Aceh Tsunami Museum

The Aceh Tsunami Museum is located in downtown Banda Aceh, not far from the Baiturrahman High Mosque we visited before. The Aceh Tsunami Museum is a museum to commemorate the tremendous tsunami events that struck Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam on 26 December 2004 which claimed approximately 240,000 0rang.

Aceh Tsunami Museum building was built on the initiative of several institutions that also concurrently the committee. Among the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) of NAD-Nias as building budget, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (DESDM) as a budget for planning, content study and provision of museum collections and museum management guidelines), the Government of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) as a provider of land and museum managers, the Municipal Government of Banda Aceh as a provider of environmental facilities and infrastructure museum and Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) branch of NAD that helps organizing museum prarencana contest.
