Using the blockchain technology for elections

at the weekend there were elections again in my old homeland, Romania. Because it is the country with the most emigration to Syria, polling stations had to be opened all over the world. Four of them were in Munich, and a few more in the surrounding area, such as in Dachau, for example.
Because democracy is still relatively young, at least younger than yours truly, it is not really well established. In the last elections there were always problems, either there were few polling stations, as in 2016 where I stood in line for 12 hours to be able to vote. Yes, after 50 years of communism, the right to vote is more of a huge responsibility than a right.
During these years there were also lively discussions about electoral fraud, also justified because many deceased voted once or twice.
To avoid such problems, one of the many Romanian secret services, STS, which is responsible for the security of telecommunications and not only for that, has set up a voting blockchain system to stop the election fraud.
Each vote was entered on the blockchain. The personal details are all encrypted, but you could see where and when one voted, of course not with whom. The documents were scanned for confirmation. The vote count was also filmed and entered directly into the blockchain. Nobody could somehow bring in a vote now. Delayed letters were no longer recognized, but disposed of directly.
In this way a new standard has been set in voting security. Sure, there were a few attempts to get around the whole thing, but the guys from the secret service were there quickly.
Such a process is much safer and I think that it would have saved the Americans a lot of time, nerves and money.

am Wochenende waren wieder Wahlen in meiner alten Heimat, Rumänien. Weil es nach Syrien, das Land mit dem meisten Auswanderen ist, musste man überall in der Welt Wahllokale öffnen. Vier davon waren in München, und noch ein paar in Umland, wie im Dachau zum Beispiel.
Weil in die Demokratie noch relativ jung ist, zumindest jünger als meine Wenigkeit, ist diese nicht richtig eingespielt. Bei den letzten Wahlen gab es immer Probleme, entweder gab es wenige Wahllokale, wie in 2016 wo ich 12 Stunden in der Schlange stand um wählen zu können. Ja, nach 50 Jahre Kommunismus, das Recht zu wählen ist eher eine riesen Verantwortung die man machen muss.
In diesen Jahre gab es auch häftige Diskussionen über das Wahlbetrug, auch berechtigt, weil viele verstorbene einmal gewählt haben.
Um solche Probleme zu entgehen, einer der vielen Rumänischen Geheimdienste, STS, was für die Sicherheit der Telekommunikation und nicht nur fürdiese, verantwortlich ist, hat ein Wahlblockchain System aufgesetzt um das Wahlbetrug zu stoppen.
Jede Stimme wurde in die Blockchain eingetragen. Die Personalien sind alle verschlüsselt, aber man konnte nachvollziehen wo und wann gewählt hat. Die Dokumente wurden eingescannt für die Bestätigung. Die Auszählung der Stimmen wurde auch gefilmt und direkt in die Blockchain eingetragen. Niemand konnte jetzt irgendwie eine Stimme mehr einbringen. Verspätete Briefe wurden nicht mehr anerkannt sondern direkt entsorgt.
Auf dieser weise hat man einen neuen Standard gesetzt in Wahlsicherheit. Klar,es gab auch ein paar Versuche das ganze zu umgehen, aber die Jungs vom Geheimdienst waren schnell da.
Solch ein Prozess ist deutlich sicherer und ich denke, dass es bei den Amis viel Zeit, Nerven und Geld gespart hätte.
Wie sieht ihr das? Kann man die Blockchain für solche Zwecke einsätzen?
