DAY 1 of 30 day writing challenge - FollowerssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #challenge30days7 years ago (edited)

Hello SteemIT

After @dragosroua started the 30 day challenge in this post I decided to participate. The main reason is that the blog part has more resteems on my account then original posts and the main growing factor are the comments. So for the next 30 days I will post a story, some ideas or happenings from my life.

Today I will speak about followers and the etiquette or net-tiquette regarding them, as I see it. Since I’ve joined a lot of people started following, waited till I followed them back and then unfollowed. Why? I don’t know, but it is a no go from my side. I have built an excel file where I track such behavior, I directly unfollow them. Again the why? Because I like to give back and exchange with the people who follow me. Followers are the backbone of steemit. They curate your work and give you feedback. Everyday some followers are picked (at least 5), with whom I did not have any interactions besides some upsteems, and some posts will be commented, if it makes sense to comment them of course.
Comments like only: “Good job!” will not appear.

Bringing value to the platform and to the followers is important, not the shallow posts. Engaging with different people from all over the world gives the persons involved new insights and brightness up the mind and horizon.

Like, for example trough the connection of @rondonsons who is doing a hip-hop contest, I came in contact with @Trillex a guy from Nigeria who showed me his lyrics and we chatted about an Nigerian NBA player from the New Orleans Pelicans. The connection between us was that he is from Nigeria and loves the player and that I lived for 4 months in New Orleans almost 20 years ago. Ambiguous and hard to follow? Yes, it is. But this is steemit. If you are not taking part of it, you will a hard time to follow and to understand it. The millions of connections that are made daily between the users help the blockchain grow.

So see you tomorrow on the 2nd day of the contest!

Good job, old sport! You posted even before me on this challenge. Keep it up, you are on a very good start :)

Thank you Sir! I think it is the beginning of a wonderful friendship between writting and me :D

This is so true. Great post for your first of 30. I'm also participating in the challenge. Partly as a way to increase my activity here on Steemit...and partly to step out of the comfort zone.

Keep it up. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Upsteemed it. Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I found it good, the best thing to add a good habit is to repeat it. Good luck and hopefully we can both finish the challenge

Good luck @alexvan I can't wait to read some of your writing from the challenge.

Thank you Sir
