Calling a Steemian

in #steem6 years ago
Hello,

yesterday I had a very interesting conversation with another Steemian. It was not the usual discord conversation, but a real phone call, which is no longer usual these days. I like to call people even if it annoys others, I pick up the phone and call because I find it more natural.

On Discord or steem.chat you do not hear and feel the voice and emotions. It's just a line of text that does not transmit emotions. Like the emails at work where someone writes something bad and ends up with a friendly greeting every time. That's why I like to call, to hear the real emotion.

Back to the phone call. Because it was a Steemian, we talked about Steem. I found the conversation interesting because this person is direct and open, which is very rare. This person has told me his view of Steem and his problems, with the big accounts that can do anything they want, and which nobody can stop or want because the smaller ones are afraid. We talked about the falling Steem prices and why that can be good for the whole Steem ecosystem. It can bring about a purge and redistribution. This could be a recovery for the future, even though it is painful for most now.

I do not think it's very bad that the prices have fallen very low, maybe just a bit because of Steemfest's ticket price, but the development is always cyclical. There has been a Steem for 17 cents in the past and Steem has survived. Although it will now meet this price again, Steem will probably survive as a chain. If you look at the whole crypto market, you can see that 99% of Cryptos prices fall. It is still a long time until prices of all currencies decouple from BTC.

As someone commented 2 days ago, SBD can maintain Steems stability if the price continues to remain at USD. It then has the property of a correct and stable currency that is not volatile.

What do you think about that?

Hallo,

Was denkt ihr darüber?

Yes, many guys are afraid about few of the big ones, and this is a big problem. The 1% problem in real live gets more dramatic here, where the 1% in STEEM have all the power and no repercussions for misusing their power.

SBD is very strange and I do not understand it because it is design to be anti market: if SBD price is high compared to STEEM, no SBD will be created (as it is happening now). But prices here are created by free market principles. Scarcicity means that the price of SBD should be even higher, and that's what we call "positive reaction chain", accelerated the abnormal situation...

Hey @alexvan,

I understand what you mean about calling being a more natural and accomplished means of communication unlike texting which do often, even with emoji/emoticons it still doesn't make up for a good verbal conversation. And apart from the Steemians around me I have talked to only one other Steemian on the phone, would be nice to have more conversations like that I bet.

I think it's not cause for alarm that the price of steem is going down, almost every other coin is down too, I think the market is just doing it's thing.
I don't know what you mean about the "purge" and "redistribution" that the fall of steem price would bring, can u explain more?

good post... carry on... learned many more from you...

I use both Steem & SBD the market is still very young, we should not be worried about the 1% Recent Stats shows the average distribution is rising, with more sign-ups this will be a thing of the past.

That is @alexvan - he is a fan of calling people indeed and he is right to do so - I had the honour too of receiving calls from him, always a pleasure. I saw Steem at 7 (or even 6) cents so I am not worried on the price and agree with your points. Re SBD I am not sure though if it is required.

I think that we need to sit tight and be patient. Steem is a strong currency with some solid support in the market. The big thing for me is the functionality of the coin and Steem has that. New projects continue to be built on the Steem blockchain. That tells me that people still have a lot of faith in the currency and its ability to recover and grow. I know that I am standing pat and will wait and smile when the turnaround comes.
