Understanding resource credits. Investment.

in #steemit6 years ago

Today we continue with the third part of understanding resource appropriations. In this session I come to explain the other reason why this new system was implemented and that in some way limits people with little Steem power.

Before starting, I recommend you to visit the 2 previous posts we have done on this series. I know it will clarify more about the use of resource credits.

Now yes! Let's start with today's topic.

The other reason why this new system was implemented is: To encourage the purchase of Steem by users with little Steem power, spot. Let's see why I say this.

In our previous post, we have mentioned that actions such as voting, commenting, making transfers, etc; are currently having costs in resource credits and that thanks to these, the number of actions that a user can perform is limited.

We must also remember that: The amount in credits of resources that a user has, is directly proportional to the amount of Steem power that this possesses, that is to say, the more Steem power you have, the more actions you can carry out in the platform.

Read those two paragraphs again to understand what is going to be explained from now on.

The following image shows the information of a user who has 15 Steem power (see orange box), it also tells us that he can make 20 comments or 101 votes or 262 transfers (see purple box). The green box indicates that he has all the resource credits available to interact on the platform.

I think the figures above are quite acceptable for a small or new account, but if you are a person who likes to be interacting with other users of the platform and do not want to wait long to grow your Steem power and thus be able to interact at ease, guess what should you do?

  • Buy Steem and perform power up.
  • Buy Steem and acquire a delegation.

This is very similar to what the vast majority of games do these days. You can play for free for several days or they give you a limited amount of items but if you want to advance faster on it, you have to buy lives, weapons, special items and so on.

Watch out! I just said faster, I didn't say you can't move forward on it, but obviously you'll have to try harder and be more cautious about the things you'll do.

¿Why do developers apply this system to games?

Very simple, to be able to pay the expenses that are generated and thus to maintain the game online. They are not going to work for free, the servers are not free, the advertising they make to the game is not free either, someone must bear these costs so that everything flows normally. It makes sense, doesn't it?

Something similar is happening now on the platform and many have not realized it.

According to my point of view, this is a good thing for everyone because when someone buys Steem and holds it in the wallet doing power up, it certainly adds value to the currency and in turn, the person can use that Steem power to grow their investment or to help other people by curing the publications he wants.
