Badgers live across Europe, North America and certain parts of Asia such as China or Japan. They inhabit lowland as well as highland forests. They become up to 70 cm in length with a tail that usually measures up to 20 cm. Due to a rather plump and short-legged body they are slow and sluggish in their movement. As omnivores their diet mainly consists of earthworms, insects and young birds but they occassionally also feed on small amphibians and mammals as well as fruits and berries. With strong claws they dig their multi-exit sett close to the forest border, serving them as a hideaway and haven for hibernation, which only lasts a few days, during winter. If needed, the badger will sometimes leave its sett to get some food or water. Badgers are predominantly nocturnal animals that prefer a reclusive lifestyle, yet if they feel safe they also enjoy sunbathing during daytime outside their sett. While some badgers move from home to home, others form clans called cetes. Interestingly, badgers and coyotes like to team up for cooperative hunting yet sometimes they also attack each other. A badger's average lifespan is about 14 years.

Badgers introduce us into the power of natural medicine. They are excellent guides out in nature and know precisely where to find healing plants or minerals of all sorts and how to use them most efficiently for bodily ailments. Consciously connecting with the badger will instigate a mind shift from chemical to natural whereby this animal will bring us the exact remedy to alleviate any aches and pains or discomfort we are being afflicted with. When the badger comes into our life this can also be a warning sign of a demonic attack lurking ahead; in this way the badger wants to encourage us to be more alert and cautious to our immediate surroundings but also to pay more attention to our very own current thought patterns, intentions and actions. Once we become aware of the gifts the badger has in store for us, it has the unique propensity for visiting us in our dream state to deliver exactly this: either a natural healing remedy of use to a current physical issue we are being faced with or a dark energy warning. The badger is a very reliable partner.

Spiritually dark aspects:

If unbalanced, the badger can be symbolic of our skeletons in the closet. When we ignore them we tend to lecture others in subjects we should be given an hour's detention ourselves. In other words, the advice of somebody who lacks the according practical execution will be easily disregarded. Consequences are superfluous squabbles that evoke a sense of inner embarrassment. If the badger wants to be respected it needs to stop berating others and focus on itself. Generally, people with the badger as their spirit animal are normally slightly morose.
