The squirrel belongs to the species of tree squirrels of which there are roughly 122 subspecies spread over Eurasian as well as North and South American mixed woodland consisting of preferrably older tree population, but sometimes they also like to migrate to large gardens, parks or graveyards in urban areas. The red squirrel is most well known, but there are also light and dark brown squirrels. The bushiest tail and most prominent ear tufts are characteristics the squirrel only develops as its winter coat to protect itself against cold temperatures. For hibernation the squirrel withdraws into its self-made drey, composed of twigs, moss and gras, which it won't leave for days in the event of ice and snow. They are very bustling animals that climb trees and branches hither and thither whereby the tail serves navigation and allows for swift body movement. They also love to squirrel away and hide food provisions in their drey, while a keen scent and fabulous memory helps them to detect old traces or lairs. Squirrels are omnivores consuming tree seeds, fruits and nuts as well as insects, young birds and bird's eggs.

Squirrels are harbingers of vitality, intuition and team play. No surprise for an animal whose favorite occupation is nutcracking. Spiritually dark aspects:

The squirrel might convey too many information too rapidly so that our mind won't be able to process the essence of each properly, leading to disarray in our mind in the wake of mental overload. Natural repercussion thereof is a state of indecisiveness that won't allow us to put the data received into practise. The squirrel's slight propensity for chitchat also involves the danger of imperiling others, thus unintentionally eliciting discord and dissension. Squirrels are notorious for vanity and smugness while at the same time displaying evasive behavior, the combination of which might indicate low self-esteem.
