Lexicon of spirit animals: lynx

Mode of life:

The Lynx is a medium-sized cat that is represented by four different species: Eurasian lynx, Iberian lynx, Canada lynx and bobcat. Most salient are the lynx' round head with characteristic black hair tufts on the tips of their high-set ears, fleecy sideburns and padded paws for walking on snow. The lynx' fur is usually spotted or striped, and depending on the species ranging from yellow grey to red with a brightened belly. As a soil dweller that is active during day and twilight, the lynx lives solitarily with great loyalty to its forest and shrubland territory. Very good vision, excellent hearing and a fine ability to pick up scents are the lynx' natural instruments on its forays, while the padded paws allow for such silent movement that prey, mainly ratites and mammals such as deer, foxes or squirrels, hardly notices any signs of an ambush. They give birth to a maximum of four cubs per year, which are being weaned after approximately four months. Lynxes can become 17 years old, in captivity even 24 years.

Spiritually light aspects:

Lynxes are experts in worming themselves out of difficult situations and have clairaudient abilities. People with the lynx as their spirit animal have a natural talent of channeling flashes of inspiration when needed most, a knack that on a core level requires mental silence and calm in the face of turbulences. Lynxes draw serenity from a deeply-rooted acceptance of life's up and downs, preventing their physical, mental and emotional bodies from cramping. They know that after periods of hardships there will come periods of joy and luck, while even the former provides golden opportunities if handled wisely. Via clairaudience the lynx knows how to interpret Universal hints and signs correctly, and more fundamentally, knows how to absorb the energetic essence of them in the most soulfully uplifting manner to gracefully traverse tough times. On balance, the lynx is very aligned with the Universal flow.

Spiritually dark aspects:

Lynxes are rather elusive. They don't like to bear company to anyone, simply because they prefer a loner's lifestyle. When groupwork is inevitable however, lynxes often clamp up in a way that often poses an enigma to others, sometimes even to themselves. Most likely, the lynx is subconsciously aware of its wisdom and doesn't want to fall into a mode of schoolmasterly sermonising, which is why in group settings they always assume an outsider role; from a lynx' point of view much better than "to do in Rome as the Romans do." Group members tend to take the lynx' behavior personally but prefer to complain in the lynx' absence. Since lynxes' clamping up in groups is so enigmatically natural even to themselves, they are recommended to stay away from such settings unless they really found their vibrational tribe.
