Cooking Challenge - Cook Your Traditional Dish | Prize Pool : 100 Steem by @alexanderpeace
Il start by saying that Cooking is part of our very existence as humans. I've cooked alot of dishes and is still cooking. The type of dishes I make are very peculiar to my environment and sometimes I go out of my way to make food that is not familiar with my culture. I reside in owerri. Owerri is the capital of Imo state which is one of the 36 states in Nigeria. Nigeria is a country in the continent of Africa.
We have different types of traditional food we eat, some of them includes
Oha soup, bitter leaf soup, ogbono soup, egusi soup, okra soup, jollof rice and beans, dodo and etc to mention but a few. Today am going to be sharing with us one of the traditional dish which is okra soup and cassava flour as it's accompanying swallow. Okra is an edible vegetable. I choose okra soup because It's popularly consumed here and it has high nutritional value. It's very easy to prepare and cook and it's relatively cheap to make depending on the ingredients you are using to prepare it. Okra soup is used for convalescents and also to teach children how to eat because it had a slippery feel in the mouth and easily goes down the throat.
Having said these, let's proceed to the ingredients required and the procedure for preparation.
Ingredients includes
Okra fruit
Pumkin leaves
Red oil
Onions
Fresh pepper
Dried fish
Iced fish
Smoked fish
Cow skin
Maggi seasoning
Salt
Crayfish.
Procedures
Slice the okra fruit into tiny pieces
Wash the ice fish, dry fish, smoked fish and cow skin and add to a pot.
Add sliced onion ball, salt and maggi seasoning to the above.
Add water and boil for about 15 minutes.
Put a pot on fire and add the red oil
Add the sliced okra fruit and stir
Add the pounded fresh pepper and crayfish and stir.
Allow to Cook for three minutes
Then add the stock from the cooked fishes and cowskin.
Allow to boil for abt 3 minutes
Wash the green pumkin leaves and add to the cooking. Stir and allow to Cook for abt three minutes again.
Pour in the cooked fish and cow skin and stir gently.
Allow to Cook for about three minutes.
The soup is ready to be served.
To make the casava flour;
Pour water into a kettle and allow to boil
Pour the cassava flour into a basin and add the boiled water until thoroughly soaked. Stir until Thoroughly blended.
The cassava flour is ready to be served with the okra soup.
The okra soup is a rich in vitamins and minerals and protein content
