Greetings and welcome.

Cooking is one of my hobbies and I love to cook a lot. There’s this satisfaction I get when I cook myself cos I get to cook the food just the way I love it. Nothing beats that feeling of satisfaction.

Do you have any motivation to work on your cooking techniques or are you satisfied with your level right now?

We learn everyday and culinary techniques evolve everyday with different upgrades happening in the different facets of the culinary world. More dishes are discovered every day and old methods are being modernized.

I am not in anyway satisfied with my cooking techniques, Infact I feel left behind when I see new cooking techniques and method being dished out of the internet and around me. The amazing thing is that the just concluded engagement challenge in gastronomy just opened my eyes to know that I really have alot to learn and improve when it comes to my cooking.

It has motivated me to learn more, make more researches and want to improve my culinary prowess.

What becomes your weak point when you face cooking?

Cooking can be alot and involves alot of work. My weak points in cooking are just two. First is the preparation aspects where you have to prepare all the condiments for the cooking. That’s a lot of work. Permit me to say that that’s even the part main cooking. When everything is prepared the cooking it almost done.

The second weak point is the part of cleaning after cooking. Having to wash the dishes and tidy the kitchen is alot of work too. Most times after all the rigorous process of cooking am already tired but I can’t leave the kitchen untidy. I have to clean and that’s alot.

Share with us that chef that inspires you to try out new dishes.

Am not into social media of late because am trying to curb excesses on social media but I have a chef in my hostel here and I must say she’s a real motivation. She’s very hard working and she’s very good with all manner of cooking, both continental and African dishes.

She has an instagram page “La kusine” where she gets order online to make all sorts of dishes for people both in small and large scale quantities. Some persons from the hostel even buys food from her.

She’s very hard working and a one man squad. She’s always in the kitchen preparing one meal or the other for her numerous customers. Even as I write this she was cooking, I had to take a picture of her doing what she knows how to do best.

I once asked her how much for a a liter and quarter of her fish stew and she said it’s #20,000, that’s about 80 steem. She also has a delivery personnel that helps her to deliver her food in different parts of the city.

After making the food, I went back to the kitchen and she gave me some of the basmati rice she made to taste. It was very nice and yummy. There was no meat in the rice, meat is expensive and it’s for the customers. Hahaha.

Have you ever engaged in any cooking competition? If yes, share with us, and if no, do you ever think you will be among the best 3 if competition arises?

Yes, I went to a culinary school some years ago during my national youth service days and we learnt different techniques of baking and cooking.

Do you know that most of those techniques I learnt especially baking have been improved on and that’s why I said I need improve on my cooking techniques.

At the end of the session, we had a general baking and cooking competition session where all the students were asked to bake cakes and cook dishes assigned to us. I won the competition as my cake and food came out the best.

I was given a plastic bucket as a gift for taking the first position, hahahah. It was a time of fun and learning.

Thank you for reading through, hope you enjoyed my post. Thank you @ninapenda for this wonderful contest. I ask @blessingogah, @bela90 and @lewas-write to participate in this contest.
