What the Bible Teaches About Money

God gives some very clear commandments regarding money and how we should administer it. Let's see some of them.
very clear about money

Do not incur debts.

God does not want His people to have debts. The Bible says:

Do not owe anyone anything, but love one another ... (Romans 13: 8).

When we get into debt, we lose a bit of our freedom. The Bible says: He who borrows is a servant of the lender (Proverbs 22: 7). Many times God calls people to serve him, but they can not do so because of their debts.

Do not strive to be rich.

The love of money has destroyed more people perhaps than anything else

The love of money has destroyed more people perhaps than anything else. The Bible says:

Because the root of all evil is the love of money, which some coveted, they went astray from the faith, and were pierced with many pains (1 Timothy 6:10).

You do not have to be rich to love money. Many times those who have less money love it more.

The Bible warns us against quick and easy plans to get rich. Fraudulent men sometimes use "get rich quick" projects to steal money from unsuspecting people. The Bible says:

Haste to be rich, and does not know that poverty will come (Proverbs 28:22).

Do not accumulate riches.

But we should not accumulate money

Every Christian should save some of what he earns to have resources in case of emergencies. But we should not accumulate money. Solomon, the wisest man who has ever lived, said:

There is a painful evil that I have seen under the sun: the riches kept by their owners for their evil (Ecclesiastes 5:13).

The Lord Jesus urges us to make treasures in heaven instead of gathering treasures on earth. He said:

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven ... For where your treasure is there your heart will be also (Matthew 6: 19-21).

Do not make money your god.

We can not serve God and, at the same time, make money our goal in life

We can not serve God and, at the same time, make money our goal in life. Jesus said that it is impossible to serve God and money. Our Lord said:

No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will esteem the one and despise the other. You can not serve God and riches (Luke 16:13).

The Bible warns us again and again against the danger of money. Jesus called it "unrighteous riches" because money is part of Satan's unjust world system and very often leads people away from God. The Bible says:

For those who want to enrich themselves fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and destruction (1 Timothy 6: 9).

Money gives people a sense of power and importance, but it does not offer true security. The Bible says:

To the rich of this century he commands that they not be haughty, nor put hope in riches, which are uncertain ... (1 Timothy 6:17).
