Calcination: The physical process of extracting mineral salts
Recently, my body decided to take a slight decline its ability to fight off illness. I took it upon myself to create a medicine which will allow my body to continue the good fight. The medicine that I made was an elderberry syrup. Elderberry is a very potent preventative and curative medicine. One of the most potent effects of this medicine is from the compound globulin, which effectively coats cells with itself to prevent viruses and other microbes from penetrating the cell and allowing them to reproduce. There are many other factors that go into the strength of this incredible medicine, but I’m not going to cover much of that.
I unfortunately did not take videos or photographs of the first initial extract to make the syrup, but it’s quite simple. To make the syrup one simply has to use fresh or dried berries and cover them with water and boil it until half of the amount of water initially added has evaporated. At this point, you allow your syrup to cool down in order to add honey to the mixture. You want the syrup to be cool enough so that the microbes with in the honey do not become sterilized.
When the extract is done macerating in the water, the average herbalist will toss away the herb that was strained from the extract, either composting or figuring out some other way to use the herb - but the trash seems to be one common method.
As an alchemist, I do my best not to waste anything. Alchemy is not about destroying anything rather about changing its state or its form in order to raise it to its highest and purest divinity. One of these processes is called calcination, which is a process of burning down the dried herb to receive the mineral salts, known by alchemists to be the philosophical Salt.

I had no idea about this process, I really love the notion of not wasting anything too. Ill have to give this a try seems really simple to make the syrup at least.
Elderberry syrup does work, a friends little girl had been really sick for about 2 months, she had been on antibiotics virtually the whole time but it was some kind of virus, shed been in the hospital a few times. I recommended elderberry syrup (for kids) and some probiotics to re colonise her digestive tract and re boot her immune system.
4 days he said she was a different kid!
The power of elderberry is incredible! Elderberry studies average the recovery time to be about four days. That’s awesome you could assist your friends child in healing. Good choice with adding probiotics too!
The calcination is rather simple if you follow the steps correctly, but it is very time consuming. These salts I pulled are very impure, you can see the brown color they have. These salts in pure form are completely white. I spent almost 20 hours on these, where I’ve spent three to four days in the past to get pure salts.
