Wood turning.

in #woodworking9 years ago (edited)

I have been away from my wood shop for far to long, business requires long term travel sometimes. Good thing is I was able to visit a good friend and he has a wood turning lathe. Nothing fancy but still a tool that I have been dying to try out. Of course it is customary for woodworkers to showoff their woodworking shops. My friend has a awesome shop and did not disappoint. He knew I love lathes so he had it all set up for me.

He showed me a few tips and let me tinker around with it. It was a blast. My friend told me all about how wood turning is a art that takes a lifetime to master. I am hooked. I hope to get one along the same size as his. Wont be back to my wood shop with a parking space soon so I am stuck dreaming and watching Frank Howarth youtube videos.

Crazy talent, right?

Thanks for reading.

Cool beans. Not a skill I have ever thought much about before this, but it does seem like a valuable skill to have. For making a stairway if you build your own house, for example.

Yes if you are good at it you can make some good money. Some bowls go for over 500 at nice art shops.

nice post :)
Frank have incredible skill, im watching him too, but all will come with practice :) gonna try woodturning myself some time in future
