Censorship?

in #censorship10 years ago (edited)

So if you can be flagged into non existence then how is this site censorship free. If you do not like what you read then what gives you the right to flag and possibly censor a persons freedom of speech. I think the Flag option should not be apart of this site. So when you write an article or make a comment and someone with some weight flags it and basically makes it disappear. How is this any different than Reddit or Facebook. Your comments are encouraged and welcomed.

Well, the same way Steem "is" decentralized, when 80% of the tokens belong to a single entity!

Steemit doesn't censor. The users do. The owner of Facebook, for example, will delete posts completely unprovoked by the users. By using a voting system to censor, Steemit doesn't do anything. It isn't a perfect system, but it is a lot better than Facebook. I don't think anyone would say Steemit is perfect, but it is a start to a new Internet, new social networking.

All posts are in the blockchain, however they can be flagged on steemit.com ...all your posts will remain in the chain forever.
