My Initiative to Assist New Steem Users - Your Thoughts About This

Introduction

For the past two days, I have been commenting on posts with the introduceyourself tag (#introduceyourself) with an offer to delegated Steem Power to new users who should sign up to @partiko with my referral link and I have delegated to all three who have signed up so far.

I had to visit each blog and confirmed the user has not signed up to @partiko before dropping my offer. In the process of this, I felt bad going through some interesting blogs and had the indication that these users were running out of resource credits (RC).

Also, I realized that most of these new users try to engage with comments on their posts, check out the blogs of those who commented as well as engaging on different contents. It is on this light that I will like to offer some assistance to new users on Steem.

RC limitations for a random new user I met

Some Facts

Going through posts under #introductyourself was actually my first experience searching for posts with tags and I noticed that just very few Steemians do go out to welcome new users and as a matter of fact, I only notice @crypto.talk coming out himself (out of the partiko automated message) to welcome new users in a separate message and shout out to @theycallmedan whom I notice takes out some of his time to visit and upvote #introduceyourself posts.

My Thoughts and Offers

Personally, I am currently very active on Steem, averaging about 3 posts and 50 comments a day. I do not think this can be possible if I am just a new user. This is one of the reasons why I want to boost up some new users.

Moreover, I am already offering a 15SP, one week delegation to new users or anyone that signs up to partiko with my referral link and I intern to maintain this offer.

Secondly, I will like to assist at least one super active new user every week with a 100SP to use for 2 weeks. I know this would not probably change anything in terms of upvote worth but my sole intention is to give these users more room to interact on the steem blockchain and make friends as well as join communities of their interests.

I figure I do not need to be big stakeholder like a whale or orca before helping out fellow Steemians and at the moment, I can only make out 500SP and these offers will be capped as follows:

  • 300 SP for 100SP delegation for two weeks (5 days cooldown for undelegation is taking into consideration)
  • 150 SP for 15SP delegation for a week (maximum 15users per 12(7+5) days)
  • 50SP to make up for any bonus delegation (already delegated 20SP to user instead of 15SP)

I need Your Suggestion(s)

I simply need some feedbacks and advices on what criteria to consider when selecting candidates for the delegation or even a better structured plan.

All valuable comments will have a share of the Steem-bounty place on this post and I will only upvote these comments when this post is 5 to 6days old in order to ensure a fair distribution of the bounty.

I will post an update about the final conclusions and kick the initiative running by next weekend.

Thank you for your time!

The people I know of helping people like are doing are:
@thedarkhorse
@simplymike
@xcountytravelers
@crypto.piotr

If I were you, I would connect with them to find out the challenges and tips for helping the very newest steemers. I know they all spend a lot of effort and I think they could help you avoid wasting time while being most effective.

You are right about the need here. If the big guys won't help, we little guys have to try our best.

Wow! Thanks for your recommendations, I just met @thedarkhorse and really learnt a few points. I will check out the other three names.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for the shoutout!

@fitinfun tagged me as I run @pifc and personally give out free delegations weekly. My mission has been to bring newer users up to 100sp total (including other delegations) and leave that amount in place for 4 weeks.

I also then set the person up with a free vote from one of the @minnowbuilder accounts for 4 weeks.

Goal is to make sure they don't run into RC issues and they are getting a small vote on all their posts for the 4 weeks I'm helping.

I have a few simple rules like original content and I want people to be powering up their earnings.

That all said honestly this mission of giving away delegations hasn't been easy. I was will to give out 250sp per round (week) and have only capped out once. People resteem the post and even drop links directly people to the post yet most weeks I'm only giving out a couple delegations.

Think the idea is great, just need to be very active seeking out people that would qualify. That is the part I just don't have time for.

Alright, that's great. I just checked it out and the rules make a lot sense. I will calf it into mine. To be honest, I never realized someone running something like that and to tell you what!, your initiative will always get a mention when I get mine running.

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the resteem. If you ever run into issues of not having enough SP to delegate to people who need it just send them my way. If you get your's up and running I can do the same then. Working together we will be able to achieve more then trying to do this individually.

BTW, I added you to my follow list so hopefully I notice if you get your delegation giveaway started, but if you could make sure to tag me in the post. I have a list at the end of my posts of people that asked to be tagged. They all resteem the post and help send people my way. You might want to consider doing the same.

Yeah, I will appreciate working together and you will always be honorably mentioned.

Yeah, I should consider doing that. Thank you very much!

Congratulations to the following winner(s) of the bounty!

Kudos to you for doing this. When I did something similar, I made sure they posted a minimum number of times per week and the posts met a certain quality standard. That last part is subjective, but if you make it clear you have a right to judge quality on your own terms, you can actually encourage high quality among new users.

Okay, thanks for advise. I will sure do consider it.

This is awesome, great idea. I would keep an eye on you delegations and make sure they power up. Its not nice delegating to help out with RCs when they are not going to help them selves

Yeah, this is a great point you just pointed out. One needs to be able to see the enthusiasm of these users to grow on Steem.

Point well noted. Thank you very much 🙏👍

you are most welcome @akomoajong

Hello my friend!!! i have to say that i do like it!!! i would recommend 2 things:

  1. Track the new steemians for at least 15 days and make a desition about the ones thats really use steemit and very often.
  2. try to contact them for and talk with them about they expectations on steemit.

Alright, thank you!

I don't know how much this would help. But have you thought about trying to get people from STEEM Monsters and STEEM Hunt to use rest of the STEEM ecosystem. Both these platforms on board new users. Many of them don't get active much beyond using those platforms. Maybe some of them would post more but you'll have to see if they are interested.

I don't know ow well it would go. It's just an idea I had because I see some potential there.

Any support is good for the new users. It can be frustrating and leads to giving up at first on steemit. This is a topic that has been going on my blog. Encouraging new users and old users. Support on this platform helps us all. Thank you for this decision. It's going to go a long way to do you well, as well.:)

You are right on point but my focus will be solely on new users for as I do not have much Steem Power. I really do appreciate your comment, thank you!
