It's Microsoft's response to the Apple Air drop app, the Photos Companions work on IOS and Android devices.

By scanning the QR code in Windows 10's Photos app, users can set a link between the phone and the computer, and both devices connect to the same WiFi network.

After scanning the code you can move photos to your computer.

This is a Microsoft Garage project designed to keep students in mind.

According to the company, it is common to work on such educational projects in student groups that are done on mobile devices and at the end they are shared on the educational institution's computer.
