IOTA: Bosch, data marketplace etc / IOTAのニュースや考え事

Few days ago there was a news that Bosch VC bought certain amount of IOTA token. The news pushed up its price after the big price jump due to the start of its data marketplace experiment with world giant companies.

Not much new information in the article but following part was interesting:

Though IOTA tokens can be used like any other cryptocurrency, the protocol was designed specifically for use on connected devices, says cofounder David Sønstebø.

IOTA is often told as a crypto for IoT but YES, it can be used like any other cryptos. And it doesn't need miners and transaction fee is zero, which is so costly on Bitcoin network (+ quantum resistance). Bitcoin will be 10 years old next year. IOTA may have a potential to establish a next standard of crypto, still the technology is in the really early stage though.

Another finding about IOTA is that I found its data marketplace website, which I couldn't find when I was reading news about it and seeing its price jump couple of weeks ago. Data from weather, temperature, soil sensors, charging stations etc are listed. After having solar panel on roof, we may start setting up sensors in our garden in the future ;) And talking about the charging EVs, IOTA may fit to micropayment for micro charging while we drive a car.

It's not a IOTA related project, but I like the Brooklyn microgrid, blockchain based community energy sharing project. I'm happy to live in a future like this.

I couldn't imagine how IoT come to our daily life before. Now I gradually have better understanding and image towards it.

That was my random thought related to IOTA and IoT these days ... I look forward to seeing how IOTA and IoT grow in 2018 :)

先日BoschのベンチャーキャピタルがIOTAのトークンを買ったよという投資話が出ました。

Boschはドイツの会社で、Googleで検索すると「自動車部品と電動工具のメーカーである」という説明が出てきます。ドイツではBoschの洗濯機やオーブンなど家電も見かけて、「ああBoschのなら大丈夫だね」「お、いい洗濯機ですな」という感じで定評があります。ちなみにDIY大国なのでBoschの深緑色のハンドドリルは一般家庭のガレージでも見かけます。会社としてはドイツ南部の豊かな州、バーデン＝ヴュルテンベルク州の州都シュトゥットガルトの企業で、従業員を大切にする企業として知られていて、入社希望の人は特にその地域で多いとか。

・・・逸れました。IOTAは長い目で見ておもしろそうな仮想通貨のひとつで、どうプロジェクトが進展するのか、世の中からどうとらえられるのかといった視点で動向を追っているのですが、今日はMIT Technology Reviewの日本語版に記事が出ていました。日本語版だと有料会員向けの記事ですが同じ記事（多分）が英語だと無料で全文読めます ;)

そこまで新しい情報はないのですが、以下ひとつ：

どうしてもIoTに目がいきがちなところ「他の仮想通貨と同じように使える」というのは当たり前でありつつおもしろくて、マイナーなし、送金手数料なしが実用に耐え得るなら、そして本当に量子コンピューター耐性があるのなら、来年10年目をむかえるビットコインにかわる仮想通貨になったりして・・・というのは妄想で、記事にもあるようにまだまだ新しい技術なのでわくわしつつ今後に注目といったところでしょうか。

あとは、データマーケットプレイスのウェブサイトがありました。まだデータはそんなにないのですが、天気やセンサーの情報、チャージングステーションの情報などがリストアップされています。一昔前に話題になった個人が太陽光パネルを設置して収入を得るののセンサー版、今後は庭にセンサーを設置して天気予報の会社にデータを売ってお小遣いを稼いだり・・・？もうひとつ、チャージングステーションといえば電気自動車の走行中のマイクロ充電・マイクロペイメントなんていうのとも相性がよいかもしれません。

太陽光パネルとブロックチェーンといえば、NYのBrooklyn Microgridを紹介したこの記事好きです。こういう未来いいな。
