What makes you sick about the society recently?

Man is a social animal. It is very difficult to live outside the society. Society helped our species to get so much success that we ultimately become the most dominant species on earth. However, society has also made it difficult for us to think rationally in various occasions. Society doesn’t like individuals to think differently or to express their feelings freely. Society puts many restrictions on people. Many revolutionaries and free thinking personalities were ostracized or killed by the society. Apart from this there are many things which make our society sickening. Let’s discuss this matter:

Herd mentality: I think this is the most sickening thing about human society. Society doesn’t let individuals to think freely and express an opinion on various matters. It becomes easier for the powerful people to keep people in a herd. A herd doesn’t think rationally. It behaves like the flock of sheep where members blindly follow their leaders. Politicians like blind supporters as they keep their power intact. Can an individual become powerful without getting support from other individuals? No, never. A king is nothing without his army and servants. A mafia rules over the masses because he gets support from petty criminals. Everything bad in our society stems from the herd mentality. People don’t use their brain and their thoughts can easily be manipulated and exploited for having illicit advantage.

Social discrimination: We are divided in various groups based on our nationality, color, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, occupations, social status etc. Corrupt and power hungry people exploit our sentiments about these groups. Society keeps us divided so that we may never be united and follow powerful and corrupt people easily. A gap is created between the strata of various groups and animosity and hatred for the different group or people are encouraged.

Mob lynching: Most of us are not mature individuals. We follow herd mentality. In Indian subcontinent people don’t hesitate to beat someone to death mere on rumors. Some months ago, people in various part of India lynched dozens of people when some antisocial elements spread rumors on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platform that the child abductors are on a rampage. Many innocent people were killed mere on suspicion. In Pakistan and Bangladesh mob lynches anyone if someone is accused of blasphemy. Mob has no mind. It can kill anybody. It just needs an excuse to do it.

Insensitivity and moral turpitude: People expect others to follow rules and live honestly but they never follow these things themselves. Our society is becoming insensitive towards the condition of others. People troll them on social media who expresses different views. Every immoral person expects others to be morally strong. This is hypocrisy. People have become so insensitive these days. When someone meets with an accident, instead of helping him/her public are busy in taking selfies. This is very sickening. An example of hypocritical behavior can be seen on Steemit as well. Some powerful people (large SP holders) expects minnows to write quality posts and don’t like them to rape reward pool but they self upvote their own shit posts and use bidbots to promote them. They accuse small accounts of raping reward pool but do exactly the same.

There are many bad things about our society which are sickening. We as human beings have learnt nothing except hypocritical behavior. Our deceitful nature and herd mentality is our worst enemy. We should respect individuals and let everyone to express their opinions. We cannot make a healthy society if we don’t respect individual sovereignty.
