Success Mantra #1 - Listening!

One of the most critical skills to master for success is the art of listening. Whether you are communicating with your team, with your customers, with your investors or with your family. This is definitely one of the top skills to learn to be successful. All your conversations are H2H (human to human), and for the person you are communicating with, the most important topic is ofcourse themselves. They want to be really heard and understood. And if you listen to them well, they will listen back to you too. So how do we become better at it. I am sharing with you 5 simple rules that I follow-

Rule no. 1- Ask relevant open ended questions

Rule no. 2- Shut up and listen

Rule no 3- Stop the mental chatter and concentrate

Rule no 4- Paraphrase and ask clarifying questions

Rule no 5- Be empathetic

As Stephen Covey said "Listen to understand and not to be understood". Most of the time it's the reverse playing out.
